Elizabeth Hanna

Elizabeth earned her Doctorate in Nursing Practice in Adult-Gerontology Acute Care from the University of Utah in 2019 and her Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner certification at the University of Cincinnati in 2024. She is an Associate Professor at Westminster University, where she teaches in the Master’s in Nursing program, on the Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) track.

She began her nursing career at the Veterans Affairs Hospital, working in the Float Pool and gaining experience in vascular access. Before becoming a nurse, Elizabeth was an educator and food activist/researcher, examining how food policy and advertising impact children’s health. As a Nurse Practitioner, she specializes in obesity medicine, guiding clients toward realistic, sustainable solutions to achieve their health goals. She has a particular interest in menopause and its effects on physical and mental health, as well as the impact of food and lifestyle on mental well-being.

Elizabeth created Imposter Syndrome Podcast to shine a light on the realities of working as a Nurse Practitioner. Through candid conversations with real NPs, the podcast tackles the questions she wishes she’d asked as a student, offering listeners the mentorship they may not have had when starting their careers.

In addition to her podcast, Elizabeth offers career coaching for those beginning their careers or feeling stuck mid-career. Drawing on over a decade of experience as an educator and mentor in health & social care, combined with her passion for helping others reach their potential, Elizabeth helps healthcare professionals “level up” their careers—even if they’re feeling like imposters.
